Dear Church Family,

We have all heard about the arrival of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Alberta. The situation is quickly escalating and on March 12, 2020 the Chief Medical Officer of Health for Alberta announced new measures to combat the spread of the virus.

While religious gatherings were specifically exempted from the recommendations, the Leadership Team and Staff believe we must focus on the primary goal: how can we slow the spread of COVID-19?

As a disciple of Christ, we are called to be good neighbours and to do good for our neighbours. Now is the time to do good. While many people who are healthy may be exposed to the virus, fall ill, and recover, we need to consider the ones Jesus considers: the vulnerable, the sick, the young.

For these reasons, the Leadership Team and Staff have decided our best response to COVID-19, our best way to be good neighbours and care for our most vulnerable neighbours, is to follow the recommendations of the Government of Alberta and create social distance.  That means avoiding public gatherings.

That said, we are suspending all church gatherings until further notice. This includes Sunday morning service, youth and young adults, and small groups.

We realize this may come as a shock to some and we want to acknowledge that. If you feel lonely or fearful of the current situation we invite you to reach out by texting COVID to 587-317-1825 and one of our pastoral staff will be in touch with you by phone.

During this time, we encourage you to listen to some of your favourite sermons on our website and look for new content from our teaching team in the days to come.

With this news we also want to inform you that the AGM scheduled for Sunday evening has been postponed and an alternate date will be shared with you once this situation has settled.

The Leadership Team continues to monitor changes in the risk status in Alberta and public health recommendations. We will strive to give frequent updates to the cancellations and what we are planning for the long term.
